Jonti’s K9 Companions are passionate about working with dogs and strive to help dogs and humans live in harmony. Our aim is to bring balance and happiness to every area of a dog’s life.

We offer support services for all your dog training and behavioural needs. Whether it’s training a new pup or addressing negative behaviours in an older dog, we are here to help.

All aspects of your dog’s life will be covered. Every dog is unique, so support will be tailored to your dog’s specific needs. We use a friendly and relaxed approach to create a positive working atmosphere during our sessions.

About Me

Hi, I’m Jonti – a passionate dog trainer with a lifelong love for dogs and a deep commitment to helping people build better relationships with their canine companions.

My journey into dog training began with a beautiful golden retriever named Nova, who I grew up with. But it was my first dog as an adult, a wonderful Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Scooby, who truly changed the course of my life and career.

At just 10 months old, Scooby was attacked by another dog – a traumatic incident that left a lasting impact on both of us. Over time, he developed what I perceived to be dog-aggressive behaviour, and I found myself overwhelmed with anxiety and uncertainty about how to help him. After years of struggling, I made the decision to take matters into my own hands.

Qualifications

I threw myself into learning everything I could about dog behaviour. Through research, dedication, and consistent work with Scooby, he became calm, confident, and able to enjoy life off-lead again. That transformation not only changed Scooby’s life – it changed mine.

I began helping friends and family with their dogs, and with their encouragement, I pursued formal training. Since then, I’ve completed multiple courses, worked with hundreds of dogs, and turned my passion into a full-time career.

Today, I feel incredibly lucky to do what I love every single day: helping dogs thrive and supporting the people who care for them. My approach is compassionate, personalised, and rooted in real-life experience. I know how overwhelming it can feel when your dog is struggling – and I also know how rewarding it is when things start to click.

Dogs I’ve Worked With

For the past 10 years, I’ve been lucky enough to work with over 700 dogs — and each one has taught me something in return. Since 2019, I’ve had the privilege of helping rehabilitate and train the dogs in the care of Staffy and Stray Rescue. Supporting the incredible dogs that come through their doors has been, and continues to be, an invaluable experience and being part of their journey to finding a loving home has been truly special. Be a part of the dogs journey to finding loving homes has been a special experience.

She is so calm, professional and clear and has given us great techniques that we saw immediate results from as well as homework and training plans. We booked a 1:1 video call to help prepare us for Jessie's arrival which was extremely helpful even though we have had puppies in the past. We then completed the 6 week puppy class. Not only was the training incredibly useful, there was a limited number of puppies in the class which gave a more personal experience and allowed plenty of time to talk to Jonti about any current training concerns. Jessie loved her time in class and we are now looking forward to the intermediary course starting in October to carry on her life skills.

Six weeks full of helpful advice, hands on training and step by step support with a first class pup trainer with a lot of fun! Socialising and basic training has been so much easier, and enjoyable with our pup, because of Jonti’s guidance. We were getting a puppy so wanted to make sure that both dogs had the best start with eachother. My parents dog has responded really well to his training and we met Jonti for a puppy session at home on our 2nd day of having Ollie which was really useful to remind us on commands, it was 14 years since we last had a puppy and it's safe to say we had forgotten it all! We have now completed jontis 6 weeks puppy class which was fantastic, small class size, really controlled with no mayhem that I remember from puppy clases in the past! Alongside this we followed Jontis instructions on short walks with my parents dog and had Jonti join for a check in. This weekend after about 6 walks we had them both off lead together co existing with no nervousness from my parents dog. We feel really pleased with the training and can't thanks Jonti enough for giving us two happy dogs!

Safe to say I was feeling a tad overwhelmed and not sure where to start. Jonti covered all the basics and then some. I came away feeling more  calm and excited to get going with our training. 3 weeks later and our puppy is doing so well. Very settled, and already smashing her commands. My 10 month old collie x retriever (Lottie) was a real handful and walking her was pretty awful followed by several trips to the chiro as I couldn't stop her pulling, surging and jumping. Jonti advised a change of lead which yielded instant results and one month later we are now enjoying our walks. The pulling has stopped and she is so much more responsive. As a result of Jonti's advice and recommendations including training toys/games and 'the mat' Lottie is chewing far less and has stopped digging up the garden! She is so much calmer, less anxious, and far more responsive.
